Demonstrators in Brasilia, Brazil have started to riot after the arrest of Tserere, aka Cacique Cerere, who was taken into custody by federal police on Monday evening after an arrest warrant was issued by Supreme Federal Court (SPF) Justice Alexandre de Moraes, who is also a justice on the Superior Electoral Court.

“Minister Alexandre de Moraes accepted the request of the PGR and decreed the temporary arrest, for a period of 10 days, of the indigenous José Acácio Serere Xavante. for evidence of the commission of crimes in anti-democratic acts,” the Supreme Court said on Monday evening.

“According to the PGR, Tserere Xavante has been using his position as a chief to enlist indigenous and non-indigenous people to commit crimes, by threatening aggression and persecution of the president-elect and ministers of the STF,” the Brazilian Supreme court stated.

“The arrest was based on the need to guarantee public order, given the alleged practice of crimes of threat, persecution and violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law,” the Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) said.

The Xavante tribe voted in the 2022 Brazilian Presidential Election, and have been present at the demonstrations based in Brasilia, Brasil, which are currently in their 42nd consecutive day of demonstrations.

The manifestation called for a military audit of the election with all information included, an elimination of electronic voting machines and return to paper ballots, as well as an end to technocratic censorship of conservative citizens, journalists, and politicians.

In an exclusive interview with The National File, the tribal chief expressed his enthusiastic support for former U.S. President, Donald Trump, and his faith in Jesus Christ as a Christian Evangelical pastor.

“I pray to God, [and] for God to bless Donald Trump,” Tserere said of Trump in his endorsement. “I hope that God will give him another opportunity to be the President of the United States for the American people.”

The tribal chief will be detained for 10 days.

Following the arrest, a number of riots broke out in the nation’s capital of Brasilia. Police in riot gear could be seen clashing with demonstrators outraged over the arrest while a number of fires could be seen in front of the Federal Police Building in Brasilia.
