New Mexico officials have intensified their renewed investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s infamous “Zorro Ranch,” ordering several major companies to preserve records connected to the late convicted sex offender’s sprawling property.
The move marks a significant escalation in the state’s effort to uncover what may have occurred at the secluded ranch, where multiple victims have alleged they were abused.
State Demands Records From Major Companies
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez has ordered over two dozen corporations to preserve documents and records linked to Epstein’s operations at Zorro Ranch.
The companies reportedly include financial and technology giants such as JPMorgan, Google, and American Express.
The preservation orders come as state officials prepare to pursue subpoenas as part of the reopened investigation.
Earlier this year, New Mexico authorities formally revived their probe into activities connected to Epstein’s ranch. In March, investigators conducted a search of the property as part of that effort.
“Reopening the investigation into allegations at Jeffrey Epstein’s Zorro Ranch was undertaken with deep respect for survivors and a commitment to accountability,” Torrez told the Journal.
New Scrutiny of Long-Running Allegations
The renewed investigation follows the Trump administration’s partial release of files related to Epstein, which reignited public interest in the disgraced financier’s network and activities.
Several alleged victims have previously claimed they were abused at Zorro Ranch, a remote property Epstein purchased in New Mexico in 1993.
The ranch has long been at the center of speculation surrounding Epstein’s operations.
Former New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas recently alleged that prosecutors from the Southern District of New York pressured his office to shut down its investigation into Epstein in September 2019, just weeks after Epstein was found dead in a federal prison cell.
The allegation has fueled further questions about whether prior investigations into Epstein’s activities were prematurely halted.
Legislature Launches Separate Inquiry
The attorney general’s investigation is now running alongside a separate effort by New Mexico lawmakers.
State legislators recently voted unanimously to establish a bipartisan commission tasked with examining allegations connected to the ranch.
The four-member panel will review evidence and investigate claims related to Epstein’s activities on the property.
Meanwhile, state officials have launched a public tip portal seeking additional information from potential witnesses.
“If you have information that may assist this investigation, we encourage you to submit a tip using the form below,” the state’s website states.
“Investigators may follow up with individuals who provide information if additional details are needed.”
Mystery Continues to Surround Zorro Ranch
Epstein originally acquired the property through a company known as Zorro Trust, which was later renamed Cypress Inc.
Over the years, the ranch has become the subject of widespread speculation and numerous allegations.
Rumors have circulated that Epstein conducted unusual scientific experiments at the property, while some claims have suggested bodies may be buried on the land.
However, no publicly available evidence has substantiated those allegations.
The property is currently owned by former Texas state legislator and Dallas real estate developer Don Huffines, who is now running for Texas comptroller.
As investigators pursue corporate records and gather new testimony, New Mexico’s renewed probe could shed additional light on one of the most secretive and controversial properties linked to Epstein’s criminal enterprise.
With both state investigators and a legislative commission now examining the ranch, pressure continues to build for answers about what occurred behind the gates of Zorro Ranch and whether evidence overlooked in earlier investigations may finally come to light.
