George Soros Has Already Poured Over $100 Million Into Midterm Elections, Nearing Record Spending

Billionaire left-wing donor George Soros is on pace to break his own campaign spending record after contributing nearly $103 million in the midterm elections.

Soros was the largest single donor in the midterms four years ago, when he spent $128 million, according to a review of Federal Election Commission records.

This cycle, the 95-year-old has made less than $1 million in donations under his own name.

Most of the money has instead flowed through Democracy PAC, the political action committee Soros launched in 2020.

The scale of the spending underscores the continued influence of Soros money inside Democratic politics as the party faces a growing fight between its establishment wing and its increasingly powerful left flank.

Critics Warn Soros Money Is Reshaping Democrats

Douglas Kellogg of Americans for Tax Reform blasted the spending, warning that Soros-backed candidates and causes could push Democrats further toward costly left-wing policies.

“Money talks, and Soros money says the most insidious, unconstitutional, costly tax hikes in American history are on the table,” Kellogg said.

Kellogg described Soros as a “wannabe Bond villain” who has helped fuel the left-wing takeover of the Democratic Party.

Capital Research Center investigative researcher Parker Thayer told the New York Post that Soros has been transferring political power to his eldest son, Alexander Soros.

Thayer said the younger Soros wants to be even more politically involved than his father.

“He wants to be more political than his dad,” Thayer said.

“This is the first midterm cycle where he is in control.

“George is not in control; he hasn’t been in control in some time,” he added.

Soros Family Backs Left-Wing Candidates

Both George Soros and Alexander Soros have backed controversial Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, as well as Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN).

Platner has drawn scrutiny as part of the party’s left-wing surge, while Omar has long been one of the most controversial progressive members of Congress.

Thayer said the Soros family is not merely funding conventional Democrat politics.

“The Soros family is angrier than ever at American politics,” Thayer said.

“They would prefer to remake America into something entirely different.”

The spending comes as President Donald Trump has mocked Democrats for failing to stop what he describes as a communist takeover of the party.

That criticism has gained new traction as socialist and far-left candidates win primaries in several deep-blue areas.

Moderate Democrats Push Back Against Socialism

Some Democrats are now attempting to distance the party from socialism and lawlessness as the left flank gains power.

Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY) is among the Democrats organizing a pushback against extremist ideologies inside the party.

“We’re for capitalism, not socialism,” Suozzi said.

“We’re for safety, not lawlessness.

“We’re proud of America, not ashamed of America — and we need to be promoting those things.”

The pushback reflects growing anxiety among moderate Democrats that the party’s image is being defined by left-wing activists and billionaire-funded political operations.

Soros has spent decades funding progressive causes, prosecutors, political candidates, and activist infrastructure.

Now, with nearly $103 million already spent in the midterms and his son taking a more visible role, the Soros network appears poised to remain one of the most powerful forces in Democrat politics.

The question for Democrats is whether that money will help them win elections or push the party even further from voters who are already wary of socialism, crime, tax hikes, and anti-American rhetoric.
