A bombshell investigation has revealed that the woman quietly serving as one of the most influential advisers to artificial intelligence giant Anthropic’s CEO previously sought financial backing from convicted child predator Jeffrey Epstein.
The revelations come as Anthropic prepares for what could become the largest initial public offering in history, with investors reportedly valuing the AI company at more than $2 trillion.
Despite wielding significant influence over Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Cami Clark holds no official position at the company, receives no salary, appears in no regulatory filings, and has remained largely invisible to the public.
According to a Wall Street Journal investigation, Clark is married to Amodei.
She has spent the past five years acting as Amodei’s closest strategic adviser behind the scenes while avoiding any formal disclosure.
Even Anthropic’s own AI chatbot, Claude, fails to identify her as Amodei’s wife.
Anthropic’s CEO Marriage Was Quietly Erased
The Wall Street Journal reported that Clark’s relationship with Amodei has been systematically obscured online.
Until recently, Amodei’s Wikipedia page made no mention that he was married.
Even after being updated, it still omits Clark’s name.
Google searches for Clark frequently return photographs of Anthropic co-founder Daniela Amodei, Dario Amodei’s sister, instead.
Claude, Anthropic’s flagship chatbot, similarly claims Amodei’s marital status “doesn’t seem to be clearly confirmed.”
According to the Journal, both its own investigation and a source familiar with the matter indicate that deliberate efforts were made to remove references to Clark from the internet.
Epstein Emails Surface
Federal records now reveal that Clark maintained direct communications with Jeffrey Epstein years after his conviction for child sex crimes.
On March 3, 2011, roughly 20 months after Epstein was released from jail and while he remained a registered sex offender, literary agent John Brockman introduced Clark to Epstein by email.
“You should connect for dinner with my girls – Cami and Michele – who I met last month in Munich,” Brockman wrote.
“They’re in LA raising money for porn movie aimed at women’s market.”
Clark responded directly.
“Hello Jeffrey! We would love to have dinner with you this evening.
“Does that work for you?”
The correspondence continued.
When Clark contacted Epstein again the following year, she reminded him who she was.
“Cami Clark, John Brockman introduced us last year at Ted,” she wrote.
“We have the free luxury porn company.
“Does that ring a bell?”
Epstein replied:
“yes,, a loud gong.”
Clark responded:
“Hahaha I was going to say, you would be the first person ever that didn’t remember us.”
Epstein then indicated he was willing to review investment opportunities.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Clark pitched him on investing in the company.
Epstein ultimately declined, reportedly responding:
“Can’t do sex TV.”
Clark subsequently pitched him on another startup, a social dieting application for women.
The email exchanges reportedly continued for approximately two years.
Porn Startup Sought Epstein Investment
Around 2010, Clark and business partner Michelle Capocefalo launched Eddice, describing it as a “revolutionary porn company.”
The company promoted itself as offering a more female-focused alternative to traditional pornography while using the slogan “intellectually promiscuous.”
The Wall Street Journal reported that Clark actively sought Epstein’s financial backing for the venture despite his status as a convicted child sex offender.
The timing has drawn renewed scrutiny because Epstein’s criminal conviction and registration as a sex offender were already matters of widespread public record.
Secret Adviser Helped Shape Anthropic
Although Clark has never officially worked for Anthropic, the Journal reported that she functions as one of Amodei’s closest advisers.
She regularly accompanies him to high-profile technology conferences, meets investors, and serves as a sounding board on company strategy.
When Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi invited leading AI executives to New Delhi and limited each executive to one guest, Amodei reportedly chose Clark.
The Journal also reported that Clark introduced Amodei to former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, who became one of Anthropic’s earliest major investors through the company’s $124 million Series A funding round.
She later proposed creating what she called the “Mother of AGI Fund,” a vehicle designed to formalize her involvement with Anthropic while managing Schmidt’s investment.
According to the Journal, Anthropic co-founders, including Daniela Amodei, opposed the proposal, and it was never implemented.
Clark and Dario Amodei married the following year.
Questions Mount Ahead of Historic IPO
Anthropic confidentially filed paperwork with the Securities and Exchange Commission on June 1 and is reportedly targeting a public listing later this year.
According to the Financial Times, investors believe the company could be valued at more than $2 trillion, making it the largest IPO ever.
The Wall Street Journal’s investigation is now raising fresh questions about corporate transparency as Anthropic prepares to enter public markets.
Institutional investors typically expect companies to disclose significant relationships that could materially influence management decisions.
Clark has introduced key investors, advised the company’s chief executive, sought to formalize her involvement through an investment vehicle, and reportedly represents Anthropic in conversations with political and business leaders.
Those activities have fueled questions about why someone exercising that level of influence has remained absent from the company’s formal disclosures.
The revelations also place renewed scrutiny on Clark’s documented efforts to recruit Jeffrey Epstein into a business venture years after his conviction.
For a company that has built its reputation on promoting responsible artificial intelligence and ethical governance, critics argue the disclosures raise uncomfortable questions about transparency as Anthropic seeks one of the largest public offerings in financial history.
