The New Yorker magazine has suspended writer Jeffrey Toobin for allegedly pulling out his penis during a Zoom call, multiple outlets are reporting.

“I made an embarrassingly stupid mistake, believing I was off-camera,” Toobin told Vice.

“I believed I was not visible on Zoom,” he added. “I thought no one on the Zoom call could see me. I thought I had muted the Zoom video.” He also apologized to his wife, family, friends, and co-workers.

The debacle reportedly occurred on a Zoom call with his colleagues at the magazine and workers from WNYC. The details of which have not been released.

Toobin will be taking time off from The New Yorker as they investigate the incident, according to The New York Post, as well as from his job as a chief legal analyst for CNN, according to Deadline.

“Jeff Toobin has asked for some time off while he deals with a personal issue, which we have granted,” said CNN.
