Trump Says Strait of Hormus Is In Good Shape – Meanwhile IRGC strikes vessels attempting to cross Strait of Hormuz

Three vessels were struck while traveling through the Strait of Hormuz on 11 March, as Iran continues its dominance of the strategic waterway amid the ongoing US-Israeli war on the Islamic Republic.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced its forces struck the Mayuree Naree, a Thai-flagged dry bulk vessel, after it failed to heed warnings not to enter the strait.

The ONE Majesty, a Japan-flagged container ship, sustained minor damage from an unidentified projectile as it traveled 46 kilometers off the coast of the UAE.

The Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier Star Gwyneth was struck by an unidentified projectile approximately 80.5 kilometers northwest of the UAE coast.

Since the US-Israeli war on Iran began on 28 February, Iran has attacked 13 vessels off its coastal waters, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), the maritime authority with responsibility for the region.

When the war began, Iran warned that any ships linked to “aggressor nations” allied with the US and Iran would be targeted.

After striking the vessels on Wednesday, Iran’s military command said the world should be prepared for oil to hit “$200 a barrel.”

“We won’t allow even one liter of oil to reach the US, Zionists, and their partners. Any vessel or tanker bound to them will be a legitimate target,” said Ebrahim Zolfaqari, the spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya military command headquarters.

Fear of Iranian attacks has brought Gulf oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz – through which at least one-fifth of global oil production typically flows – to a halt.

Gulf oil and gas producers Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait all host military bases from which US forces have carried out attacks on Iran.

In retaliation, Iran is targeting Israel and US bases in West Asia with heavy retaliatory drone and missile attacks.

On Tuesday, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said it had attacked 16 Iranian mine-laying vessels near the Strait of Hormuz, in an effort to reopen the strait for its allies.

Earlier in the day on Tuesday, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the US would carry out “our most intense day of strikes,” adding that Washington had struck more than 5,000 targets in 10 days.

Meanwhile, Iranian state media said on Wednesday that the country’s armed forces had launched “the most intense operation since the beginning of the war,” including firing some of its most advanced ballistic missiles toward Tel Aviv and Haifa in Israel.

Euronews correspondents in Doha and Dubai reported new waves of Iranian attacks on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Iranian strikes continue despite claims by US President Donald Trump two days ago that “They’ve shot everything they have to shoot,” and “if you look, they have nothing left. There’s nothing left in a military sense.”

Iran’s IRGC also threatened to attack “economic centers and banks” related to US and Israeli entities in the region after a US attack on an Iranian bank.

“The enemy left our hands open to targeting economic centres and banks belonging to the United States and the Zionist regime in the region,” a spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters stated on Wednesday.

US and Israeli strikes have killed more than 1,200 Iranians, according to the Iranian Red Crescent Society. At least 13 Israelis have been killed by Iranian retaliatory strikes.

In Lebanon, Israeli strikes have killed at least 570 people since the start of the war against Iran.
