DOES MERCK’S NEW ORAL COVID DRUG PREVENT HOSPITALIZATION OR MORE PROFIT FOR BIG PHARMA?

According to Dr Mercola:
The U.S. government is already on the hook for about 3.1 million courses of molnupiravir, which it bought for approximately $2.2 billion. The brand name of the oral antiviral is called Lagevrio, which was narrowly approved by the FDA in October 2021. Merck reported in a press release that the drug is 50% effective in reducing hospitalization. The early study included almost 400 patients. When the full analysis was reached from 710 people, the effectiveness declined significantly.

Several panelists said the change in data was poorly explained. In a November addendum, placebo out performed the new antiviral. Molnupiravir group was 6.2% and the placebo one 4.7%. Merck had to change benefit of hospitalization to 30%.

Molnupiravir works by causing by causing viral mutations. The drug alters the genetic makeup of the virus, causing mutations that kill the virus. There is a strong possibility that it may cause mutations in mammalian cells too. Pregnant women & expecting mothers were excluded from the clinical trials. Males could not donate sperm for 1 month after last dose. FDA did not approve medication for children or breast feeding mothers because of bone and cartilage toxicity and possible teratogenic effects on fetus. Experts are concerned about more variants, especially if not taken for full course, similar to antibiotic resistance.

With other OTC & other antiviral therapies, along with blood thinners, steroids and antibiotics, is this medication necessary? Also monoclonal antibodies can be used in an outpatient treatment center for early treatment options. Dr McCullough and Dr Zelenko recommend the OTC bundle of zinc, quercetin, vitamin D and vitamin C for acute & prophylaxis treatment. Prescription drugs ivermectin & hydroxychloroquine are used this way too.
