The word “Jew” comes from the Greek word for “Edomite” (rather than from “Judah”, son of Israel the man, who was once also called “Jacob”).
“Jew” comes from “iouidios”, who were Hellenized Edomites – the “i” is pronounced with a “j” sound.
Also, in the 1925 Jewish Encyclopedia, Volume 5, Page 41 – it clearly states that “Edom/Esau is modern Jewry.”
