The Iranian regime has vowed to teach President Donald Trump and other “enemies” a “lesson” if ground troops enter Iran.
Iran’s leadership is escalating its rhetoric, warning that any U.S. ground incursion will trigger a direct response, as Trump signals ongoing negotiations to bring the conflict to a close.
The sharp exchange underscores the high-stakes standoff as both sides weigh military pressure against the possibility of a deal.
Iran Warns of “Major World War” Scenario
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf issued a series of warnings on Sunday.
Ghalibaf is accusing the United States of preparing for a ground invasion while publicly discussing diplomacy.
“Our enemy speaks publicly of negotiations while secretly planning a ground attack, without realizing our forces are waiting for the Americans to enter,” Ghalibaf said, according to Iranian state media.
He framed the conflict in sweeping terms, declaring:
“We are in a major world war and must prepare ourselves for a long, difficult, and complex path.”
Ghalibaf also made clear Iran has no intention of backing down militarily.
“Our launches continue, our missiles will not stop, and our determination has only grown stronger,” he said.

The Iranian official pointed to Tehran-backed forces across the region as key components of its broader strategy.
He described:
• Hezbollah in Lebanon as “an important and effective part of the resistance”
• Allied forces in Iraq as “fighting bravely”
• Houthi forces in Yemen as having “breathed new life” into the campaign
Ghalibaf added that Iran intends to demonstrate its strength before any conflict ends.
“We will not allow our enemies to leave without demonstrating our power and turning this war into a lesson for any aggressor,” he said.
President Trump Signals Progress, Issues Warning
While Iran escalated its rhetoric, President Donald Trump struck a different tone, indicating that negotiations are underway and showing signs of progress.
“The United States of America is in serious discussions with A NEW, AND MORE REASONABLE, REGIME to end our Military Operations in Iran,” President Trump wrote.
“Great progress has been made,” he added, while cautioning that failure to reach a deal would trigger decisive action.
“If for any reason a deal is not shortly reached… and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately ‘Open for Business,’ we will conclude our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island… which we have purposefully not yet ‘touched,’” Trump said.
He framed the potential response as retaliation for past attacks on Americans.
“This will be in retribution for our many soldiers, and others, that Iran has butchered and killed over the old Regime’s 47-year ‘Reign of Terror,’” he added.
High-Stakes Moment
The dueling messages highlight a critical moment in the conflict.
Iran is signaling readiness for prolonged confrontation and warning against U.S. escalation, while President Trump is leveraging military pressure to push for a negotiated resolution.
Whether the situation moves toward a deal or further escalation may hinge on whether Tehran opens key shipping routes and engages with the terms now on the table.
