The Israeli army has escalated its violent and indiscriminate attacks on south Lebanon on 26 April, hours after Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to strike Hezbollah with “force.”

Israeli airstrikes and drone attacks hit several areas, including Deir Antar, Zawtar al-Sharqiya, and Nabatieh al-Fawqa in the south, on Sunday afternoon.

An Israeli strike also hit Burj Qalawiya, killing one person and injuring three others. Earlier, a café near the Kfar Tebnit roundabout was bombed.

At least ten injured people were transferred to hospitals for treatment after the attack on Kfar Tebnit.

The Israeli military’s Arabic spokesman released a new threat earlier on Sunday, ordering the forced displacement of 7 additional villages in southern Lebanon: Mayfadoun, Shoukin, Yohmor, Arnoun, Zawtar al-Sharqiyah, Zawtar al-Gharbiyah, and Kfar Tebnit.

“In light of the terrorist Hezbollah party violating the ceasefire agreement, the [army] is compelled to act against it forcefully. The [army] does not intend to harm you. Therefore, out of concern for your safety, you must evacuate your homes immediately and stay at a distance of no less than 1000 meters outside the specified area. Anyone present near Hezbollah elements, their facilities, or their combat means is endangering their life,” he claimed.

The statement coincided with Israel’s continued systematic destruction of civilian infrastructure in Taybeh and Bint Jbeil.

Hezbollah has been responding to the violations with operations targeting occupation forces in the south, as well as rocket and drone launches toward settlements near the border.

The Lebanese resistance group said in a statement on Sunday that it hit Israeli occupation forces with a drone in the town of Taybeh, achieving “confirmed casualties.” Shortly after, Hezbollah announced the targeting of an Israeli military rescue team sent to extract the casualties.

Israeli media reported a “serious” security incident in south Lebanon. Rescue helicopters were seen transferring casualties to northern Israeli hospitals, including Rambam Hospital in Haifa. Hezbollah reported via its military media, citing the Israeli army, that at least 131 soldiers have been injured in south Lebanon since the so-called ‘ceasefire’ took effect on 16 April. Additionally, at least 13 Israeli soldiers have been killed by the Lebanese resistance since ground operations began in early March.

Sirens also sounded across multiple settlements in the north on Sunday due to Hezbollah drone infiltrations.

Hezbollah has renewed cross border rocket fire in recent days in response to Israel’s attacks and violations.

After a barrage of rockets was launched on Saturday, Netanyahu ordered the Israeli army to “strike Hezbollah targets in Lebanon by force.”

Tel Aviv has halted its strikes on the Lebanese capital since the 8 April ‘Black Wednesday’ massacres, in which Israel hit Beirut and other areas in Lebanon over 100 times in 10 minutes, killing over 300 people and injuring over 1,000.

However, Israel has significantly expanded its occupation of the south and is violating the ceasefire on a daily basis with attacks and mass destruction of infrastructure.

Nearly 2,500 people have been killed by Israel in Lebanon since 2 March, including over 100 medics and healthcare workers.

Israeli troops have set up a Gaza-style ‘Yellow Line’ in the south, officially dubbed the ‘Forward Defense Line,’ aimed at seizing territory, destroying infrastructure, and creating a ‘buffer zone.’

Over 60,000 housing units have been damaged or destroyed since 2 March.

On Friday, Hezbollah rejected US President Donald Trump’s three-week truce extension for Lebanon.

Trump announced the truce extension while simultaneously saying Israel had the right to continue “surgical” attacks on Lebanon throughout the ceasefire.

Mohammad Raad, head of Hezbollah’s Loyalty to the Resistance parliamentary bloc, said on 24 April that “any supposed truce that grants the enemy a special exception to open fire or carry out any movement or field action within Lebanese territory is not a truce.”
