The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has delivered a legally required 6-page report to Congress that lists hundreds of government officials, public figures and other politically exposed people named in documents tied to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In the same letter, Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche defended redactions made during the release of millions of pages of federal records related to Epstein.
The letter was sent Saturday to senior members of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees.
DOJ said the document fulfills reporting requirements under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which was enacted last year to compel the department to disclose redaction practices and identify all persons referenced in materials released to the public.
The agency emphasized that a person’s inclusion on the list does not imply wrongdoing or direct connection to criminal activity.
Officials also said that all records in the department’s possession that relate to Epstein were released, subject to redaction standards.
