President Donald Trump is weighing a range of military options against Iran as tensions escalate, with Pentagon planners outlining scenarios for what officials describe as a potential “massive final blow.”
According to Axios, President Trump has been presented with four possible paths.
Those plans reportedly include deploying U.S. troops and launching a ground operation targeting Kharg Island, a critical hub in Iran’s oil network.
However, the proposals were described by White House officials as “hypothetical.”
They come as President Trump signals Iranian leaders are seeking a deal, even as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi publicly denies that negotiations are taking place.
Pentagon Options Target Iran’s Strategic Oil and Shipping Infrastructure
Pentagon planners have outlined multiple options aimed at Iran’s economic and strategic pressure points.
These include invading or blockading Kharg Island and taking control of Abu Musa.
Other possible operations include seizing Larak Island, which plays a key role in controlling the Strait of Hormuz, along with two smaller Iranian-held islands near the vital shipping lane.
Another option under consideration would involve intercepting and seizing vessels exporting Iranian oil, according to U.S. officials cited in the report.
Separate plans reportedly focus on Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
These include a potential ground operation to secure enriched uranium inside nuclear facilities, as well as an alternative proposal centered on a sweeping airstrike campaign targeting those sites without deploying troops on the ground.
Officials say Trump has not approved any of the options but remains prepared to escalate military action if diplomatic efforts fail.
Trump Issues Stark Warning as Iran Denies Negotiations
President Trump underscored his frustration in a Truth Social post Thursday.
The president blasted Iran’s leadership while noting that the Iranian regime is in a weakened position.
“They are “begging” us to make a deal, which they should be doing since they have been militarily obliterated, with zero chance of a comeback, and yet they publicly state that they are only “looking at our proposal.” WRONG!!!” Trump said.
“They better get serious soon, before it is too late, because once that happens, there is NO TURNING BACK, and it won’t be pretty!”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reinforced that message during a Wednesday briefing, signaling the administration sees little room for delay.
“The President doesn’t bluff, and he is ready to unleash hell,” Leavitt said.
“Iran shouldn’t miscalculate again…
“Any violence beyond this point will be because the Iranian regime… refuses to come to a deal.”
